Camp Harmony Literature Focus

Sone says camp "was hopefully called Camp Harmony". Do you think the name is appropriate, or is it ironic? Support your answer with the evidence from the text?

It is very ironic to named the internment camp Harmony because based on www.dictionary.com, harmony's synonyms are peace, unity, friendship and in this story, the camp is just a dirty place where Japanese Americans were treated badly. Another reason is that harmony is something that has to do with music, and music is about freedom and peace, but in the story, the camp is like a prison that is guarded by the military and people were an able to make a choice and it is a very dangerous place. The author clearly wrote, "The lights came from high towers placed around the camp where guards with Tommy guns kept a twenty-four hour vigil." Maybe the military just name it Harmony so the Japanese Americans will lose their hopes when they got there.
